We are at a tipping point on the most important journey of our lives,
A journey that began four lifetimes ago
A Journey with no end in sight
A journey that began with my right to vote,
And graduated to equal pay and education,
And on it went to social justice and equality
A journey that seeks to protect me from your unconscious bias
A journey that seeks to protect me from cultural norms and heritage that disadvantage women
A journey that seeks to protect me from domestic violence and gender-based violence
A journey that seeks to protect me from rape culture and the associated blame game
A journey that seeks to protect me from sexual harassment wherever I go
A journey that has seen campaigns like #EverydaySexism #MyDressMyChoice #TimesUp and most recently #MeToo
A journey where we raise our voices in unison, calling out sexual harassment, demanding for equal pay and women’s political representation.
Equal rights and empowerment is all we ask for in our journey
This journey that seems to demand another lifetime of conversations from us
For it’s when we speak up we are heard
