Rose is the mother of two young children, and finds herself living a robotic life with an abusive and controlling husband. While she struggles to maintain a calm front for the sake of her children, inside Rose is dying and trapped in ‘Isolation Junction’.
She runs an online business from home, because Darren won’t let her work outside the house. But through this, she meets other mums and finds courage to attend networking events, while Darren is at work, to promote her business.
It’s at one of these events that Rose meets Tim, a sympathetic, dark-haired stranger who unwittingly becomes an important part of her survival.
After years of emotional abuse, of doubting her future and losing all self-confidence, Rose takes a stand. Finding herself distraught, alone and helpless, Rose wonders how she’ll ever escape with her sanity and her children. With 100 reasons to leave and 1,000 reasons she can’t will she be able to do it? Will Tim help her? And will Rose find peace and the happiness she deserves? Can Rose break free from this spiralling life she so desperately wants to change?
Based on true events.
Author Guest Post –Why Republish?
Two years ago this month I published the first edition of Isolation Junction, I have now republished the second edition and with the support of Pict Publishing. My blog tour is a fantastic opportunity to let everyone in on why I have chosen to republish.
Lets firstly go back to 2016, I had this passion to get the message of emotional abuse and coercive control out there. I had little knowledge on how to publish a book and took guidance from a friend and who became the editor of my first edition. It felt like the obvious choice in the moment because I didn’t know where to look for options and I felt more secure in speaking with a friend with concerning the topic of the book. I had been on a recovery programme and was on the right track but emotionally everything was still raw for me. I found it extremely difficult to publish the book and I doubted it going ahead, what gave me the courage was the reassurance from my friend and the people who had backed me on my kickstarter campaign- I couldn’t go back.
Since the publication I received some very encouraging feedback and also some constructive feedback. I wasn’t a writer specifically, I just knew I had to turn my mess into a message and this was the way I needed to do it. I did a creative writing course, received some support for my mindset from a life coach, a retreat, self help books, I also became a facilitator for the recovery programme I originally attended. Having some time to attend interviews, discussions and take each step of my journey with less personal pressure and I felt emotionally stronger.
I came to a turning point and realised that there were parts of my experiences I didn’t go into and left gaps in the book, this is a fictional novel but based on true events, it was very difficult to put together. I decided to republish when I met Emma Mitchell from Creating Perfection, we had small short discussions and these resulted in understanding she was the right fit for the task. We shared familiar friends and I had received many recommendations of her work.
I am now happy with the second edition, I have enjoyed using my writers imagination to be able to add to the message I want to get across. I not only want it to be a source of entertainment but a book that educates of this type of behaviour as well. It has been a long journey and with plenty of obstacles but I wouldn’t change it.
I am thankful to Emma for all of her time, I am also thankful to the other writers, bloggers and those who are part of my street team that continue to support the work I do.
I want to thank B-Gina Review for joining me on my Blog Tour and hope you can all pop by the other stops.
