By Regina Rymes:
Tick tock tick tock
My clock reminds me
Of days past
And years gone by
All I have left now
Is tick tock tick tock
The ticking of my clock
I look outside my window.
At the rolling plains and the roaring lions
And wonder to myself,
Where did all the time go?
Then I hear tick tock tick tock
And remember the ticking of my clock
That tells of the years gone by
I once was young
I once was beautiful
I once was desirable
My life was full of hope
My life full of dreams
Queen of my destiny I was
I heard tick tock tick tock
And remembered the ticking of my clock
But I ignored it
Each tick, each tock signified the passing of yet another year
My dreams became less audacious,
My hopes a little less ostentatious
And my options, a little narrower
Until finally there were no more options for me,
No more dreams to dream
No hope left
And when I listened
All I heard was silence
And the tick tock tick tock
The ticking of my clock
There is nothing left now
Except to sit by my window
And look out at the rolling plains and the roaring lions
And listen to the tick tock tick tock
The ticking of my clock
That signifies the passing of yet another second
Another hour, another day, another year
Until finally there is no more tick tock
